6 Tips On Skin Cancer Prevention

Now that summer is here many people are spending more time outdoors enjoying the warmth of the sun. Studies have shown that sunlight is actually needed to prevent certain cancers (lung, colon, breast and prostate), diabetes, multiple sclerosis and asthma. However, people can often get too much of a good thing. You have to be careful when you go outdoors. If you want to prevent skin cancer, it is very important to follow these steps.

1) Wear a hat with two to three-inch brim all around and wear long-sleeved shirt and pants. Tightly woven fabrics like denim are better than loosely woven cotton or linen. Wearing a hat and protective clothing is more effective than using a sunscreen according to recent studies. This is especially important for those who are fair-skinned, turn red after 10 minutes of unprotected sun exposure, who have 100 moles and who have a history of skin cancer either self or family. Look for clothing that is made from sun-protective fabrics. There is also a laundry additive that has a UV protectant that can be used to wash clothes with.

2) Apply sunscreen properly 15 to 30 minutes before going outdoors. Cover the exposed parts of your body thoroughly with the right sunscreen. Use sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher. Apply sunscreen even on cloudy days because 80 % of the sun’s UV rays pass through the clouds. Also protect your lips by applying a lip balm that has a sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher and re-apply sunscreen every two hours while outdoors especially after swimming and if you sweat heavily.

3) Try not to stay outdoors more than 20 minutes during the peak hours when the sun’s rays are the strongest that is from 10 am to 4 pm.

4) The best sunscreen, however, is an internal sunscreen built in with nutrition. Eat plenty of chlorella, goji berries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, astaxanthin, carrots and nutrient-rich super foods to boost your skin’s natural UV protection (takes about 30 days of nutrition to boost skin levels). Add foods to your diet that are rich in carotenoids such as tomatoes, peaches, broccoli, watermelons and spinach. Carotenoids are powerful antioxidants and protect against the sun’s damaging UV rays.

5) Do a monthly skin exam. Do you know that skin cancers can develop in parts of your body that are not exposed to the sun? Look for moles, spots or freckles that are asymmetric, have an irregular border, variation in color and are more than 6 millimeters (the size of a pencil eraser). See a dermatologist if you find any moles, freckles or spots that look suspicious.

6) If you take medications, be aware that some prescription drugs such as antibiotics, diuretics, tricyclic antidepressants and over-the-counter nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like Aleve and Advil can make your skin vulnerable to sun damage.

What Are Some Damaging Issues Of Dip Tobacco

Many smokers try to quit smoking by using smokeless tobacco. If you think it is a safer option than smoking cigarettes, think again. It is just as bad. Just so you know, if you use smokeless tobacco, you consume more nicotine than if you were to puff one cigarette.

The office of the U.S. Surgeon General has been against smokeless tobacco since 1986. They do not consider it a safe alternative to cigarettes and cigars. You are still exposed to potential health risks such as cancer to the mouth and throat. So quitting smokeless tobacco is a smart thing to do if you are are a snuff user.

Your body does not retain nicotine in the body for a long time. In about 24 hours, your body will get rid of it. The problem is the withdrawal symptoms you encounter which stretches to about two weeks or longer. Let’s not forget the nicotine byproducts that linger in your system. Even if you’ve quit smoking, it’ll still be there for about a month.

Quitting chewing tobacco is a matter of choice. These steps will get you started. The most effective way to quit is to have a quit date. This is the most important step in breaking the habit. Use suckers and lollipops to replace chewing tobacco. It will help you wean gradually from nicotine. Finally, find a support group. Technology is great. You can enroll yourself in a quit-smoking group online these days.

Well, I started chewing tobacco when I was 16. Later, I became addicted. My addiction has lasted 12 years. Each day I use up about a can. Not too long ago I decided to give FinalSmoke a chance, to see if it could stop my dipping days. It was a personal request from a dear cousin of mine. In less than 14 days, I noticed that I have no desire for chewing tobacco.

Anyone who has ever tried numerous attempts to quit chewing knows that it is difficult. The psychological addiction is stronger than physical craving. Expect to put in more effort and be more patient when trying to quit smokeless tobacco. I would agree that using quit smoking methods like FinalSmoke has increased my chances of quitting smokeless tobacco. Get Final Smoke review now.

You can have a life free of smokeless tobacco. Have a healthier body free of nicotine cravings. Save more money. Plus, your weight doesn’t go up like it would with other methods to quit smoking.

Choose Microdermabrasion For Better Looking Skin

So many people today are worried about their skin and keeping it clean and healthy trying to find the right soaps and creams that could give them relief. More often than not though, the creams and soaps available on the market or prescribed by the dermatologist are not enough to keep away the pimples and dry skin. Luckily there is hope for those desperate situations today.

Microdermabrasion is a wonderful tool for those people who have problems with fine lines, wrinkles, acne, scars and pores with severe build up as well as people who have overexposed their skin to the sun. Depending on the severity of your skin condition, more than one application is needed before you can get satisfactory results. If used regularly it can keep your complexion healthier and younger.

Microdermabrasion consists of the removal of the outer layer of the skin thanks to a light abrasion. It is normally done in spas and salons with specific machines but now it can be done at home too. It is very cheap and easy do do at home. The procedure consists of the abrasion of zinc oxide or aluminum crystals to remove the skin cells of the outer layer of the skin. Some clients have complained that when going to spas and salons this procedure can be very painful leaving the skin sore for several days.

On the other hand, the microdermabrasion kits that are sold for home use can be a cheap and almost painless way of treating the skin. It works with batteries and comes with three soft brushes for the abrasion together with a container full of diamond crystals made of zinc oxide that are applied to the face. This version is a soft and easy way of cleaning your complexion and the procedure only lasts a few minutes. The kit is extremely useful for hard working women who do not have the time to go to spas or salons.

Not only women can benefit from microdermabrasion but men too. It has become very popular in the past few years, and has become very widespread especially for younger men. Until a few years ago men usually used soap and water to cleanse their skin but now they carefully take care of themselves even more than women do and when it comes to removing scars and pimples spas and beauty salons offer their services offering microdermabrasion sessions.

Whether you are a man or a woman having skin problems after trying everything else, microdermabrasion is the answer and the hope that in the future experts will be able to find other methods used together with this one so it may have a much longer lasting effect.

How To Get Nutrition From Raw Food

You might agree on an intellectual level that eating raw foods is a good idea. But does the thought of abandoning a lifetime of eating habits for the sake of what seems like a good idea seem like more than you can do?

So don’t! That’s silly and the surest way to guarantee you won’t even give a raw foods diet a fighting chance. “Everything in moderation” and we think that applies to even the healthiest notions. It’s not healthy if you won’t do it!

Don’t think of trying a raw foods diet as taking anything AWAY. Try adding them in. We think if you add in things like raw vegetables, sprouts, fruits and juices, you won’t be as hungry and when you’re not hungry, you won’t give into impulsive eating. If you want that steak, or even a McDonald’s hamburger, plan for it and enjoy it. Once you start eating raw foods though, and notice how good you feel on them and how much more energy you have, that hamburger just won’t look as good to you.

You do want to be sure though, that you’re getting enough of the right kinds of nutrition. Eating raw foods doesn’t mean eating only the raw foods you like. Watermelon is good for you, but it’s not enough. The same with most foods. You’ll need to do a little research into which raw foods have the essential proteins, or what combinations of food you need to eat to get enough protein. Raw food eating is intended to nourish your body in a completely different way, but just being raw isn’t enough. You want to do this to be in balance, and you need to balance the raw foods you’re eating for proper nutrition.

One way to ensure that you are getting enough nutrients is to incorporate a new vegetable every week. Buy something you have never heard of, like a “leek”, or “swiss chard.” You will find a whole new world of tastes and textures open up to you. You will feel more and more deterred by fast food. I guarantee it.

Benefit of Raw Food Diet

If you’re not overweight, or don’t have Type II diabetes, you still might find you’re not as thirsty as you normally are. First of all, if you’re drinking water and juices, you’re not consuming caffeine, which is so dehydrating and makes you thirstier. And by not consuming as much in the way of cooked foods or especially highly processed foods, which have astronomical sodium counts, you won’t be as thirsty either.

By consuming more raw, uncooked food, and pure water and fruit juices, you’re putting your body into balance. Keeping sodium to normal levels found in foods means you’ll start to require a more balanced amount of water.  Don’t think of this as changing or taking away. Think of it as adding balance, and it will make the process of eating healthier much easier.

Natural Remedies for the Common Cold

If you’re trying to avoid catching a cold this season, or if you’ve already been hit by the bug and are looking for natural remedies that don’t require taking over-the-counter medicine every day, you may want to consider some common cold natural remedies. Here are a few herbal and alternative treatments that work wonders on the immune system during the cold season that will keep you and your family healthy.

Besides the tried and true remedies like taking in a significant amount of Vitamin C, garlic and Echinacea have been known to boost the immune system. Garlic releases a chemical called acillin, which has antibacterial qualities, and Echinacea is a great natural remedy that can kill viruses in the body that can be caused by the common cold.

The herbal combination of Goldenseal can also eliminate toxins from the body, as well as boost the immune system and increase strength. Since the common cold is brought on by germs and other foreign substances that find their way into the bloodstream, this natural remedy is very helpful. Goldenseal is also great for treating a sore throat, and can help you to get a good night’s sleep, which may be difficult when you’re battling a cold.

Depending on how severe the cold is, or how long you’ve had a cold, you can use eucalyptus oil to help eliminate chest congestion and swollen sinuses. Inhaling the extract can help to clear your airways and eliminate some of the mucus buildup associated with the common cold.
If you’re taking over-the-counter or prescription medications for your cold, be sure to check with your doctor before switching to natural remedies, so that you don’t create any new complications. It may also be a good idea to try one natural remedy at a time, so you can determine which treatments work best for you.

Taking prescription from your doctor is necessary because sometime it may happen that natural remedy give its negative effects and could be dangerous, so just to avoid the depressing situation, take your family doctor’s advice. Captivating recommendation has become the norm for many people in today’s world.

Food Can Be A Natural Remedy

Food can be a natural remedy for many ailments. Unfortunately, many people in the world don’t eat right these days, especially Americans and Europeans. Processed foods loose many of the nutrients that they originally had, including vitamins. This leads many people to take supplements, which can be very good for you at times. It also leads people to seek pharmacological solutions to many of their problems. There is a movement in the western world however to seek a natural remedy to a health problem, and often times that natural remedy can revolve around food. Healthy eating can make a world of difference in healthy living.

When looking at food as a natural remedy for many ailments, first understand what food is and what it does. Food is the fuel for your body, providing nutrition and energy. One of the things that good food does is strengthen the immune system. A strong immune system fights off disease. Hence, healthy eating means a strong immune system, a natural remedy at its best.

Remember the old folk saying, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”. There is truth in that saying.  Apples are a natural remedy to fatigue because of the natural sugar they contain, as well as vitamins. In addition, apples are full of fiber and can be a natural remedy for bowel blockage. Apples are also a good source of vitamin C and are a good natural remedy for the common cold. Oranges, grapefruit, lemons, limes, and tomatoes all contain large amounts of vitamin C as well as other vitamins and are a great natural remedy for the cold and other ailments.

Knowing that these vitamins found in food serve as a natural remedy to many illnesses should lead a person to examine their diet and add whole grains, fruits, vegetables, natural sources of fiber and lean meats. Protein found in lean meat, eggs, fish, poultry, cheese, and nuts is a natural remedy for fatigue, and helps the immune system develop. Oats, such as those found in normal breakfast oatmeal are a natural remedy for high cholesterol. Jalapeno peppers, high in iron—more iron per ounce than beef liver – are also an unthought-of of source of vitamin C, and actually contain more vitamin C per gram than equivalent citrus fruits, with the additional benefit of spicing up a meal and adding some zest. With that in mind, keep in mind that often the best natural remedy to any ailment is improving your eating habits.

Chinese Herbal Medicines

Chinese Herbal Medicines are available in different forms and there is the choice between traditional CHM and the modernized versions. Some people find it difficult to adjust to the peculiar taste of CHM but just keep at it and it will soon become acceptable.

There is no standard pricing scheme for CHM and so you might have to fish a bit to find the right price. Also, note that recently insurance companies have started covering herbal treatment. So if you are into herbal medicines have yet to take out an insurance policy you might want to investigate this possibility with your insurance provider.

One way Chinese Herbal Medicine does its magic is by removing excess toxins from the body. This is done in many ways. One method is the colonic dialysis therapy. This therapy is especially effective with people who are trying to overcome addictions. While the human body gathers toxins from all sorts of sources on a daily basis, addictions result in rapid toxin build up in a very short time. What is worse, depending on the type of addiction, natural toxin excretion from the body is inhibited. Colonic dialysis therapy overcomes these inhibitions and provides a quick exit route for the accumulated toxins. For people who are blessed enough to escape addictions the natural toxin release mechanism is given a boost by colonic dialysis therapy.

Currently the PLA Institute of Drug Dependence Treatment and Rehabilitation is busy doing earnest research to study how colonic dialysis therapy can help people who have been long-term addicts of heroin. The primary focus of this research is to determine whether colonic dialysis therapy helps these people to abstain from heroin and whether it can reduce craving and the resulting withdrawal symptoms.
